"I could write a book on reasons why I like Navigator," says
Doug Dunlap of the Hayden Family Office. Doug first began looking
for a software solution in 1987. "Fortunately, one of the
Partners in Price Waterhouse's Tax Department suggested that
I try FNI's accounting program. I called FNI the next day. After
receiving and testing their demo I placed my order for the program."
Ever since then the Hayden Family Office has used Navigator
as part of its operations. According to Doug, "the longevity
of using high quality programs from people intent on offering
only the best available is the single most important thing I
like about Navigator."
Doug is no stranger to changing with the times. He has adopted
Navigator's add-on modules to help simplify and streamline the
daily workload. "Since 1987 they have made annual improvements
to the basic program. And they've expanded its capabilities greatly
with new modules that integrate with the basic program, such
as BrokerLink, and Checkform." Doug has been especially
pleased with BrokerLink's ability to link to their bond holdings
at Merrill Lynch which helps them understand their investment
positions. He understands that accessing data directly from brokerage
firms is a vital tool for any investment manager.
"The FNI support team has been indispensable over all these
years," says Doug. "Their help, when needed, is so valuable.
Over these 18 years we've had to call about 30 times. There was
never a time they did not answer our calls immediately." Thanks
to Navigator's Software Update capability, Doug is
able to access the latest version of the product at any given
time using the internet. This allows him to stay up to date with
the latest features and capabilities of the system.
"I'm particularly thankful for the FN program at income tax
time. It makes preparing data for our tax preparer a breeze," says
Doug. Navigator helps Doug get a lot of work accomplished
in a short amount of time. According to Doug, "Navigator has
made preparing statements very fast compared to having to do
so manually. It's likely difficult for people today to even think
about posting books and preparing statements manually, as it
was about 20 years ago."
