The powerful features in Navigator 8.2 required
major changes in the database that holds your financial information.
For current clients, therefore, Navigator 8.2 requires you to install
new upgrades to some of your add-on modules to work with your data.
All users on Annual Maintenance will receive these upgrades along
with Navigator 8.2. Once you convert to Navigator 8.2, your data
will no longer work with any previous editions of Navigator, but,
any data created by a previous version can be read with Navigator
8.2.

Navigator 8.2 Does More Your Way
Navigator 8.2 brings you more power, security, and
convenience than ever before. This new version provides powerful
new features to substantially enhance the use and capability
of Navigator.
Prevent Access to Closed Months
You can now prevent unauthorized users from going back to prior
months and changing data. Use this feature in conjunction with
User Profiles to make your FN data more secure.
Control User Functions
Navigator 8.2 introduces User Profiles. You control
each user's access to FN, give users the capability to View,
Add, Change, or Delete depending on the function.
SOE users can have up to two user profiles, one of which is
the administrator. POE users can have an unlimited number of
user profiles. With user profiles the administrator of FN can:
- Limit access to sensitive information.
- Create checks and balances within the system.
- Close months, preventing fraudulent entries.
- Disperse knowledge on a need to know basis.
Every function found in FN's toolbars
and menus can be managed to give each user individual capabilities.
Be general or specific in delegating permissions depending on
your management needs.
Store Multiple Qualifiers
You can now list multiple qualifiers each time you need a report
with multiple qualifiers. If you use the same set of qualifiers
frequently, it is easier to create a Qualifier Table.
Store Separate qualifier tables for each situation, for example:
- Multiple real estate investments or private equities.
- Stocks help with different brokers but of the same industry
or sector.
Print Cleaner, More Informative Reports
New features in FN 8.2 display pertinent information on reports.
The user now has the option to display the FN account numbers
on balance sheets, income statements, and other tax schedules.
With FN 8.2 you can:
- Show account numbers in all reports that show detail account
names.
- Add a percent column to Summary Reports.
- View percent of Marketable Investments by Format Type.
- Adjust percentage decimal places.
- View Security Analysis by Symbol, great for multiple portfolios.
Export to Excel
The Excel button on the toolbar allows the user
to export reports to Microsoft Excel®. Here the user can change
the numbers and perform further analysis without affecting their
data files.
Save to PDF
The PDF button on the toolbar gives the user the
ability to save the report they have created as a PDF. Useful when
you want others to view the report electronically but they do not
have FN installed on their computers.
Use Two Monitors
You can increase your work productivity by expanding
the size of your desktop. Work on more than one task at a time
by moving items from one monitor to another or stretching them
across multiple monitors. Edit a report on one monitor while viewing
transaction activity on another. Or, open multiple pages of a single,
long document and drag them across several monitors to easily view
the layout of numbers and text.
Use Navigator Online
With this new version, you can use the add-on module
Navigator Online to run FN. This means computers at a remote office,
a client's home or office, or an advisor's laptop in the field
can access FN over the Internet. All the features of FN are available
to each user, no matter where the user is located. (POE only)
As with prior editions, Navigator 8.2 is offered in two editions:
Professional Office for
financial professionals, multi-family offices, large traditional
family offices, and other users managing very complex financial
situations.
Standard Office for financial
professionals, family offices, and other users managing complex
financial situations.
Summary of Enhancements:
- Prevent Access to Closed Months – Lock down previous
months to prevent changes to data.
- Control User Functions – Control the functions each
user is allowed to perform. This allows an administrator to
restrict access on a function-by-function basis to authorized
users only.
