We installed a new printer. Since this installation, my checks are not printing correctly. The numerical dollar amt and the date are not printing in the correct place on the check. I have messed around with the rows and columns and still cannot get these fields to move to the correct positions on the check. Is there anything in particular I need to check as far as settings or anything? I am out of ideas. ------------------

We need more information to answer this question. Please come back to this topic, hit "post reply," and answer the following questions.
- Exactly what version of FN are you running? You can determine this by selecting Help | About Financial Navigator from the menu. Example: version 8.0.4.
- What operating system? (Examples: Windows 98, Windows 2000, etc.)
- What kind of printer? Specific brand and model number.
- Are you printing checks with
- CheckForm Navigator (i.e. checks on plain paper) or with
- Financial Navigator (i.e. checks on pre-printed check forms)
- What do you mean by "the dollar amount and the date are not printing in the correct place on the check"? Please describe where these fields are printing.
- What happened when you changed the row and column numbers? Did the fields move at all?

Financial Navigator 8.0 HP Laserjet 1200 Windows 95 Checks printed on preprinted check forms The dollar value and date should be over on the far right side of check and they are more left to center. When I changed the row and column numbers, they moved a tiny bit. I even but in the max for the column to see if it would go to the far right and it went to the center area only. Let me know if you need any additional info. Thank you.

I didn't ask you what kind of check form you're printing on. Most people print on "business size" checks (which are the full width of 8.5" x 11" paper). The system is also able to print on "personal size" checks These are also on 8.5" x 11" paper but are perforated so the check winds up being small like the checks people carry in their wallets. If you are trying to print on business size checks, I think that somehow the wrong check form was selected. It sounds like the system is trying to print on small ("personal size") checks.
- Go to Transaction Entry.
- Select Print Checks.
- Select the proper checking account and click Apply.
- If there are no checks to be printed, select Sample.
- When the check appears on the screen, select Select Form.
- If check form #3 Personal Check was selected, that was your problem. Change
it to the proper check form.
If this doesn't work, please reply to this topic and let us know what's happening.

The symptoms you describe could occur if you are using the wrong font. FN requires a monospaced font to position the text on checks correctly. A monospaced font uses the same amount of space for every character and every blank space. You may be using a proportional font that uses more space for wide letters like w and m and less space for skinny characters like i and l: iiiiii wwwww - This is a monospaced font iiiiii wwwww - This is a proportional font You can change the font, size and style of text on your checks. Your selections apply to all sections of the check. Currently there is no way to change the settings of specific sections of the check. Your font selections are saved on your computer, so they affect all FN checks you print. To change the font FN uses to print checks: - Go through normal steps to print a check.
- If you do not have any checks waiting to print, select Sample Check
. When the first check comes on screen for your approval:
- Select Select Printer
- Select Font.
- Select the font of your choice. Only the monospaced fonts available on your computer are listed. FN is designed for fonts with 10 characters per inch.
- Select the style of your choice (normal, bold, or italic).
- Select the font size of your choice. 12 point is the FN default and recommended.
- Select OK.
