We use finnav for our personal acct'g as well as the
company. The problem is that we use a business size check, but without a
stub. The program will not allow me to reduce the vertical size of the check
below 390 (3.9") Our checks are 3.5". Therefore we have to run the checks
back to the "load" position after writing each check. We are using an Epson
LQ570e printer for checks. It seems there must be a way to get it to accept
the 3.5" checks, so we can print a series of checks without all the fooling
around of backing the checks our and back into the print position.

Change the user defined page size to 350 for the length. Do this in your Windows program:

  1. Select Start | Settings | Printers
  2. Highlight the dot matrix printer you are using.
  3. Select File | Properties
  4. Select the Paper tab.
  5. In the Paper Size window, select Custom.
  6. Enter the necessary Width, Length and Unit information. (i.e. 850, 350, .01 inch)
  7. Select OK and return to FN.

If this does not resolve your problem:

  • Download an updated printer driver for your particular printer model.
  • Download a printer driver for the same make but different model of your printer. (Sometimes a different printer driver for the same make but different model will work.)
  • Call Support Desk for your printer model and ask for technical assistance in changing the paper settings.

Please note that after February 1, 2002 FN will no longer support Dot Matrix Printer problems. Printer technology standards have advanced to jet and laser capabilities and the FN programs have been updated to reflect those standards.
