I got the error message "component ss32x25.cox file is missing or invalid" when I was printing checks. What do I do?

This is a problem with a windows library file called ss32x25.ocx. Verify that your version of the file is 2.5.0.40 or later. Here's how to do that:

  1. Click on Start | Find | Files or Folders.
    • In the "Named" box, type ss32x25.ocx.
    • Make sure "include subfolders" is checked.
    • Make sure "look in" is set to either your local hard disk or the network drive (depending upon where the FN program resides.)
  2. Make note of the folder or folders where the file is found.
    • Select the first one listed and right click on it.
    • Select Properties from the pop-up window.
    • Select the Version tab.
    • Make note of the version number.
  3. If you have only one version of ss32x25.ocx, verify that the version number is 2.5.0.40 or greater.
  4. If there are no versions, re-install FN as a custom installation and select the Windows Library Files only. Complete the installation. Then go to step 6.
  5. If you have two versions of ss32x25.ocx, the older one is probably causing the problem.
    • Backup the older version by changing its name to ss32x25.bak.
    • Then copy the newer version so that the same version appears in both places.
  6. Reboot your computer.
  7. Restart FN and go back to printing your checks. This should solve the problem you described. If you're still having the same problem, come back to this topic, hit "post reply" and tell us what's happening.
