Once in a rare while, the text printed on a check is so small that I can't even read it. I can reprint the same check and it's OK.

I have an HP 7310 OfficeJet and FN 8.0.5. This problem has been occurring for a long time, with earlier versions of FN and with older HP printers.

I've checked the font, have the latest printer driver. This happens with both my entities.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

Thank you for the question.

I understand that you enter a series of checks and then print them one at a time. They are all printing fine then one is printed with a very small font. You reprint the same check and it prints fine. The printer is not turned off at any time. No other application is printing to this printer.
Since the problem occurs only rarely, it is tricky to diagnose and solve. Since it is very random, it may be a hardware problem.

Your answers to the questions below may help us find the source of the problem:

  1. Do FN reports ever have the same problem (print with small font)?
  2. Does any other application (Word, email, etc.) ever have the same problem?
  3. What was printed just before the bad check? That is, do you ever print something besides another check just before the problem occurs?
  4. If printer is turned off and turned back on before printing checks does the problem still occur?
  5. Can you try it with another printer
  6. Run some printer tests on the printer. Do they seem OK?

Answers to your questions:
  1. FN reports do not have the same problem. Checks only.
  2. No other applications have the same problem.
  3. The problem usually occurs during a series of check printing while printing one check at a time.
  4. Yes
  5. I had been using an HP LaserJet printer up to one month ago. It happened with that printer also.
  6. The printer works fine for all other uses------printing, copying, faxing
