If the alignment has changed after installing and using a new HP printer, this may be caused by the printer driver.Go to your computer's control panel and open up Printer and Faxes. Next to the printer name, you may see a suffixes such as PCL or PS (Short for PostScript). If you see a printer driver with a PS, try using that driver instead of the PCL one to print checks.
If you do not see a printer with PS in the name, and only see a PCL, then the PostScript driver is not installed (by default, it usually isn't). To download the latest driver, visit HP's website at http://www.hp.com.
After installing the PostScript Driver for your printer, try printing checks again using this printer and see if this fixes your alignment issue. You should see a PS next to the printer name.
