I am doing accounting work for a client who doesn't have all their financial information together. However, I need to pay some bills for the client. Can I write checks using Financial Navigator even though I'm not sure what the correct beginning balance is in the checking account?

Yes. You can either:

  • Enter an appoximate starting balance at Accounts | Balances for Accounts. Then write your checks. Once you know the correct starting balance, go back to Accounts | Balances for Accounts and enter the correct balance.

  • Leave the starting balance at zero, write the checks, and enter the correct balance later.

In either case you'll have to be careful that you don't overdraw the account until you know the correct balance.
