I cannot access any printer with FN - the space is blank and when I try to change printers, it still is blank, stating that there are no printers.

In FN, select File | Print Setup. You should see the list of printers available. If no printer available can be caused by several ways:

1) The printer info in memory has been lost in Windows. The solution is to restart Windows.

2) No printer is defined or set as the default printer. Select Start | Settings | Printers. Verify a printer is defined and that a printer is set as the default printer. If not then add a printer. Also you can add new printer to see if it shows up in the list. Or delete the existing printers and and add it back.

3) If the printers are shown in the Control Panel under Printers and are being displayed in other programs, then the problem could be with the FN program and Printer dialog program. Reinstall FN. Verify the Printer dialog file comdlg32.ocx is in the windows\system folder. View the install log file in the FN program folder called fnwinXX.log where XX is the version number such as fnwin75.log for version 7.5. In the install log file look for the comdlg32.ocx file and see if it was copied. The file would not be copied if a newer version already existed. If the file for newer version is messed up then the reinstallation will not copy over it to fix it. The next step is get a new copy of this file. One way is to find the same version from another machine that is working. Another way is to remove it and reinstall. The best way to remove it is 1) Copy and paste the file so you will have a copy of it if you need to get back to it.2) Delete the file. Just renaming the file will not work since it may just get renamed in the registry and still access the renamed file. 3) Now reinstall the program to get the file copied. This can be verified in the install log file.

Other solutions may be to uninstall any new programs added since it working correctly. Also running scandisk is always a good idea to insure the hard drive is working properly.

Note: All reports can be displayed on the screen and then copied to a spread sheet as a workaround.
