The body of the report is blank. The header and footer print fine. This is on an HP 4 printer using FN 8.0.1.

What is the solution?

Yes, this is a confirmed problem on some printer drivers such as HP 4 and HP 2100 series Laserjet printers. This occurs on all reports. It happens only when the report is sent directly to the printer instead of going to the screen first.

Current solutions:
1) Select Screen instead of Print and then with the report on the screen select Print.

2) Use a different printer.

3) Try a different printer drivers such as HP 4 plus or even an older printer driver such as HP II.

We are working on a correction to this problem and will post an update when it is available. Thanks for your patience.

We are still working on a permanent solution.

The best solution is still to select Screen instead of Print and then with the report on the screen, select Print. It is not necessary to select Print Preview.

Also this problem occurs only on some workstations with HP 4 printers but not all. So some printer driver or configuration is a possible the solution.

Solution has been found!

New version of FN 8.0.3 dated 18 Dec fixes the problem with reports printing directly to a printer without a body.

Please download and install the new version in test mode. Use the following instructions.

In FN 8.0, select Help | About FN. On the About screen, press the letter T to get the prompt set to Test mode.
Select ok to the prompt. Now back on the About screen, select Software Update. This will download and install a
new version 8.0.3, dated 18 Dec.

Now start FN and normal and try to print any report directly to the printer.

Note: There is a work-around that you can do to avoid this problem. Just resize the report screen for any report. This must be done on each workstation.

This fix was moved to production on Jan 26, 2001. So the normal software update will install the version with this fix.
