We do not customize our reports. All reports are set at the "defaults" from FN. We are currently have a problem with our "security portfolio analysis report".

For most of our investment reports, the reports print with the normal size print. However, on one report, it prints with a much smaller print (or font).

We have checked and compared the page layout on the reports and can find no difference in the settings. What is the matter?

Note: these reports differ only in the "wildcard" qualifier used. Otherwise the reports are identical.

In the report layout grid (which is the first screen you see after you select a report and select "Screen"), select Format | Report Layout. On the Report Layout tab, look at the settings under "Fit Report on Page."

quote:
From Financial Navigator Help:
Fit Report on Page

Some reports are too wide to fit on single page, regardless of the default orientation. The options here determine how the system handles wide reports.

  • Print with System Defaults -- Print the report without any automatic adjustments for width. Depending on the number of columns and the width of each, a report may need more than one page to print all columns on a report.

  • Use Smart Print -- Automatically adjust report layout so the width of the report fits on a single page. To fit the report on a page, Smart Print will:

    1. Reduce Column Width -- This makes each column as narrow as it can be but still be wide enough to show all the information in that column.

    2. Change to Landscape -- If the default orientation is set to Portrait, the system switches the report to print in Landscape. If the default orientation is set to Landscape, Smart Print has no effect.

    3. Reduce Font Size -- This decreases the point size of the text in the report.

Smart Print checks the report and performs the above three adjustments in the order described. It will not perform all of them if they are not all needed for the report to fit. For example, if adjusting the column widths is enough to fit the width of the report on a page, Smart Print does not change the report orientation or font size.
The user can control which of these actions Smart Print will take to fit the report on the page. If you do not want Smart Print to perform one of the actions, clear the check mark from the setting.

Try printing your report with System Defaults and see what happens. If that does not have the desired result, then select "Use Smart Print to Fit" and select one or more of the options to print the report.
