There are many reasons why reports would print slowly. It depends on what report you are printing and what you mean by printing slowly.- Does it come to the screen fast or slow? If the report comes to the screen fast but prints slow it indicates that the problem might lie with the network (if any) or with the printer or the printer connection.
- If the report comes to the screen slowly, then the problem may be with the computer itself. (see RAM, defrag, etc. issues below)
- How big is the report? For example, a large report likeDetail Trial Balance for Jan - Dec will take longer than a small report. A report like this may be much bigger than a Word document or an Excel spread sheet.
- Try printing with different reports and different sets of data such as the sample
data.
- Try "screen" first (rather than "print") and see how long that takes.
- How fast is the computer? Try printing on other computers.
- More memory in the computer may help.
- Closing other Windows programs may also help.
- Rebooting the computer may recover lost memory in windows.
- Defrag the hard drive will not hurt.
- Make sure there is a lot of free space on the C: drive for spooling and caching.
