Thanks for the answer on exchange of stock. I now have a problem in that I "sold" the stock and it was gone from my asset list. I reversed (deleted) the transaction. I had to go into the asset screen, remove the sale, sale date, and put back that it was a common stock. This returned the asset to my asset list.

When I run the transaction register, I am now out of balance the amount of the original cost basis of the stock. After the total increases and total decreased, there is a line "Changes in Account Balances/Transfers" that should not be there, since I have deleted the transaction and restored the stock to the asset list.

All I want to do is get back to where I was before I tried to post this entry. How can I get rid of this change?

Do we new users brighten your day with our questions?

I would suggest you run Test & Correct to see if it does not find the problem and fix it for you.
Select Utilities | Test & Correct Files | All of the Above.
