I have an investment account (the format is common/preferred stocks)where I recorded the cost of about 20 stocks. Each month I update the value of the account using the "Enter Prices to Update Securities" screen. I show the number of units as 1. I then enter the full dollar amount of the value of all the stocks in the "Price Per Unit" field. I don't recall having this problem before, but this month the program is rounding to the nearest dollar (dropping the cents that I enter). The entry I am making is in the $200,000 range but it has been that size over the last few months and the program didn't drop the cents. Any idea what to do?

Hello Carol, thank you for posting.

The Price Per Unit field begins to round amounts after 4 digits. The program will drop all cents for entries that are 6 digits or more. However, although they are rounded in the price per unit field, the cents should still be added to the market value of the asset.

Navigator 8.2 and earlier limit the price per share entry to seven digits before the decimal point (about $9,999,999). If you enter more digits, the price will be truncated to seven digits.

When you have a large investment recorded in Navigator as a single share, this limit can prevent you from using Update Prices to change the balance. A workaround is to enter the transaction directly on the Unrealized Gain and Loss Transaction screen. The final result is correct.

With any method, you are still limited to $85,000,009.99 per transaction. So if there is a large change, enter multiple transactions, each less than $85M.

Navigator Version 9.0 and later allows nine digits total before and after the decimal, so per share price can be $123,456,789 or $1.23456789 etc. Navigator 9.0 also has a higher transaction limit of $500M ($50M in Standard Office Edition). So entering these updates in 9.0 is easier.
