Navigator 8.2 and earlier limit the price per share entry to seven digits before the decimal point (about $9,999,999). If you enter more digits, the price will be truncated to seven digits. When you have a large investment recorded in Navigator as a single share, this limit can prevent you from using Update Prices to change the balance. A workaround is to enter the transaction directly on the Unrealized Gain and Loss Transaction screen. The final result is correct.
With any method, you are still limited to $85,000,009.99 per transaction. So if there is a large change, enter multiple transactions, each less than $85M.
Navigator Version 9.0 and later allows nine digits total before and after the decimal, so per share price can be $123,456,789 or $1.23456789 etc. Navigator 9.0 also has a higher transaction limit of $500M ($50M in Standard Office Edition). So entering these updates in 9.0 is easier.
