I have been experiencing difficulty in switching of debit and credit assignments in automatic transactions and difficulty in the program erasing the account to which items have been distributed, weeks after the date of entry of the items. I checked with Windows Explorer in the folder FN and found that many vestiges of previous versions of FN had not been erased upon upgrades in the past, although 7.0 was eliminated when I upgraded to 7.5. But portions of 5.2 (DOS), 6.5, 6.6, and 6.7. remained in the folder. I changed the folder name from FN to Old FN and attempted to reinstall to a new FN folder from my installation CD. I got an error message and the statement that the program failed because of a restriction on my computer. I presume the upgrade disk contained some prohibition against installing the program a second time. What can I do to reinstall FN 7.5 from my CD? Jameswh ------------------ Jameswh IP: Logged
John Administrator	posted 07-26-2000 04:34 PM There is not a restriction to reinstall from the FN 7.5 CD a second time. What is the exact text of the message? Did this message appear doing the install or when trying to start FN. If it is doing the start of FN then make sure the short is pointing to the new FN folder and not to the old FN folder. Also verify the name of the exe file to be sure it is for FN 7.5 (fnwin75.exe) and not an earlier version that was deleted or uninstalled. Be sure to do a Full install and not just a workstation install. [This message has been edited by John (edited 07-26-2000).] IP: Logged
John Administrator	posted 07-26-2000 04:42 PM Uninstalling old versions of FN. 1) For lastest(Windows 95+) versions (FN 7.0 +) the best way is to run Add/Remove programs from the Control Panel (Start \| Settings \| Control Panel). Select the FN program to uninstall and select Remove. 2) For Windows 3.1 version (FN 6.0 -6.7), the best way is to run the Uninstall FN menu choice from the Financial Navigator Program group(Win 3.1)/Start menu(Win 95/98) 3) For Dos version, run the DelFNDos.bat file to delete all the files from the FN DOS version. Old version are not automatically removed since some user like to have the old version available after they have installed the new version. IP: Logged
