Sorry for my poor explanation of my request.

I am about to install Ver.8 on a new computer and update it before installing my data files for a single entity. My question relates to the preferred method for transferring these data files, which are on a floppy disk, to the newly-installed Ver.8. Is there a step-by-step procedure available for doing this?

I couldn't find this in the Forum. It is probably so obvious and easy.

Moving data from one computer to another can be done in several ways. The best method depends on the amount of data to move and whether both computers are available to be connected at the same time.

1) Copy or Backup the FN data to a floppy disk (or a zip disk or cd) on the old computer. Take the disk and put it in the new computer. On the new computer either:

a) In FN open the data files from the floppy (A: drive) and then immediately save then to the hard drive such as File | Save As and specify the location as c:\fn\dataxxx.

b: In Windows Explorer, copy the data files from the floppy (or zip /cd) to a folder on the hard drive.

2) If there are a lot of files and the two computers can be connected together, then network the computers or use Direct Cable Connect. Copy the files from one computer to the other. The folders will need to be marked as shared on the old computer. For Direct Cable Connect, the parrallel cable needed is a special cable. For more info on this refer to windows documentation or contact a computer professional for assistance.

Basically the files just need to be copied to the new computer.
