Do to our growth we are planning on rolling out MS Terminal Server this year. We wanted to know if there are any caveats we should be aware of before we attempt to deploy FN in our test environment?

Thank you,

Mike

There are two areas you must address to use FN on a Windows Terminal Services (WTS) platform.

1. License Extension - The standard FN license does not permit use of FN on a wide area network such as WTS. You need to obtain a License Extension agreement to operate FN in this manner. To obtain this, call Dennis Mangalindan at 650 / 962-0300 ext 1108. In exchange for the fee for this license extension, you receive an increased level of service for technical support and product enhancements designed for the WTS environment.

2. Technical Issues - FN can run on a WTS platform successfully. Depending on the method of deployment and add-on modules used, you may be required to address the following issues in the WTS environment:

  • Mapping of local drives
  • Mapping of local printers
  • Capturing mapped printers for use with CheckFrom Navigator

Terminal Server 2000 and Terminal Server 2003 can have different methods of addressing these issues.
