When you install and use Financial Navigator software, you often need to create file names and folders. To make these names meaningful and easy to read, it is tempting to use special characters. However, Windows, Navigator, and other software do not operate properly when some characters are used in file names or folder names.

To avoid problems, use just numbers, upper and lower case letters, and these three special characters:
_ underscore
- hyphen
. period

Two other characters are often used but occasionally cause problems:
& ampersand
blank space

These other characters appear to be legal but are not recommended:
~ ` ! @ # $ % & * ( ) - _ + { } ; ‘ , .

Characters that should never be used are:
: / \ * | < > ? “ ^ [ ] =
