Install Navigator normally, using the special Navigator Online Product Key you were sent. There are a number of ways to set up WTS. I’m assuming you install programs to one server (which could be the WTS server) and then set up separate WTS accounts for each user on the WTS server.
Here’s the steps we will use to prepare a server. It doesn’t have to be the WTS server though it can be.
1. Download Navigator 9.0 from the link we sent you.
2. Move the file to a new folder on a server, something like D:\Navigator\FNinstalls\.
3. Create new folders like D:\Navigator\FN\ (for the Navigator program files) and D:\Navigator\FNbackups\.
4. Grant full access to all the Navigator folders to all users that will be using Navigator. They need read & write access especially to the FN program directory.
The rest of the steps must be done from any workstation (or WTS account with admin privileges), not the server itself. This sets the database connect string correctly.
1. Create a mapped drive on the workstation pointing to the Navigator directory. For instance, map N: to D:\Navigator\.
2. Browse to the installation file.
3. Double click on the file to install Navigator.
4. Specify the Navigator program folder as the installation directory, when prompted. For instance N:\FN\.
5. Start Navigator.
6. Copy and paste the Product Key that we sent you when prompted.
7. Perform a Software Update when prompted. There is now a Navigator icon on the workstation desktop and you are ready to use the sample data.
To install Navigator on each user’s WTS desktop:
1. Create a mapped drive on the workstation pointing to the Navigator directory. For instance, map N: to D:\Navigator\.
2. Browse to the installation file from the user’s WTS desktop.
3. Double click on the file to install Navigator.
4. Select Workstation Install (instead of Full Install) when prompted.
5. Specify the Navigator program folder as the installation directory, when prompted. For instance N:\FN\.
6. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. No Product Key or Software Update is needed. There is now a Navigator icon on the user’s WTS desktop and the user is ready to use the sample data.
7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each WTS user.
You can also install Navigator for local users who don’t use WTS, as long as they have LAN access to the Navigator folders. Use the same steps above that you used to install to the WTS desktops.
