Data files from previous versions of FN are fully compatible with the current version. However, to gain the full advantage of FN's latest features, you must update the data files to the new Master Chart of Accounts.To do this, select Utilities | System Reconfiguration | Update to New Chart of Accounts. This is discussed fully at the FN Help topic Updating to the New Chart of Accounts.
Although Financial Navigator Version 8.0 can read any set of data files created or modified in a previous version, data files modified in FN 8.0 may not be compatible if you try to open them in a previous version of FN. Earlier versions can read data files modified in FN 8.0 only if all of the following are true:
- The data files were originally created in the earlier version.
- and -
- The data files were not updated to the new Chart of Accounts.
- and -
- Distributions do not contain more than 15 entries.
