When I try to use software update I get the connecting to : ftp.finnav.com, then a long pause. Then unable to login. Verify internet connection or connect to internet thru dial-up connection and then start login to retry. Ok. When I hit the Ok, then the details button I get the following. blogin started at 12/8/2002 6:15:25PM Host Name = ftp.finnav.com Host Address = Access Port = 21 Login Name = Anonymous Password = Someone@Someplace.com Working directory = ftp CallingConnect to access CentralChannel.blogin completed at 12/8/20026:16:26PM What is going on and what can I do to fix this problem?

I need to verify a little information before going any further:What version of FN are you using? What edition of FN are you using? What Windows platform are you using? (98, 2000, XP?) Do you have a firewall on your system? Are you using a stand alone PC, laptop, or a PC on a network? What browser are you using? (Netscape, Internet Explorer) When you do the software update, are you going to the FN main menu Help | Software Update? What are the exact steps you are taking and the resulting screens? Are you logged on to the internet prior to accessing the software update feature in FN?

Pamela, Thanks for the reply. In answer to your questions, I am using Fn 8.08, Windows XP Professional,Personal Edition, Internet explorer Nortons personalFirewall & virus Protector.EvenwhenI turn these off it still won't connect. When I want to run software update I will log on to AOL, minimize it and then get FN up. I go to help, software update and click. I get this connecting to: ftp.finnav.com. After a long pause a window will come up--Unable to login.Verify internet connection or connect to internet thru dial-up connection and then start login or retry. When I hit OK to this window and then hit show details, I get the following: blogin started at such and such timehost name = ftp.finnav.com host Address = Login Name = Anonymous Password = Someone@Someplace.com Working Directory = ftp CallingConnect to access CentralChannel blogin completed at such and such time What is going on here and how can I fix it

Please go to the FN Web site, Support Link and select Software Updates and download the software update file from there. It is possible that your IE properties or XP internet options are set to not allow access to the software update directly from our site through the FN program. Therefore, you need to download the sofware update file from the FN Web site and then install it. - Access the Web.
- Access the Web site www.finnav.com.
- Select the Support link.
- Select Software Updates.
- Download the 8.0 version update.
- Save the file to the same folder where your FN program files are located. Make a note of the name of the file (e.g., fnwin80x.exe).
- Go to the location of the saved file and double click on the file to start software update process.
- Follow the steps for installing the update.
