Can I change the default transaction terms to Standard Accounting Terms rather than Banking Terms? Or do I need to choose Standard Accounting every time I open Navigator 9.0?

You can change it anytime (and change it back if you want). Select Options | Transaction Terms. The setting will stay the way you set it, until you decide to change it again.

This setting is stored in your computer’s Windows directory, not on the server, and not in the data itself.
Changing it affects:

  • Anyone using your computer
  • All entities in the current Navigator database
  • All entities in the any other Navigator databases.
  • Both Navigator 8.2 and 9.0
It does not affect:
  • Other users on different desktop computers, even in the same entity
  • Outside users when you exchange data with them.

If you change to Accounting Terms and it doesn't "stick"; that is, if you have to reset that each time you start Navigator, try logging in to your desktop computer as an administrator then change the Terms. It may be that your regular login does not have permission to change files in C:\Windows\fnwin.ini. If it works with Admin login, ask IT to grant your regular login permission to write to that file.
