I posed a question on how to delete no longer needed accounts from an automatic entry, noting that the only options seemed to be nulling the entry or inserting. I was told that yes that was all that is available. So, a suggestion - with Automatic entries, especially those which are long - the option to delete single accounts, because conditions have changed, would be helpful.

That is a good suggestion. We will look at adding a Delete line button similar to the Insert line button.(If we can find room on the screen.)Currently you can remove an line in an automatic entry by using the action code of 'Skip Entry'. This can be done by the following steps: 1. Blank out the account name. 2. For the action code select 'Skip Entry'. 3. Select OK to save the Automatic Entry. Thanks again for your suggestion.

This is also a big problem in our office. In our investment partnership accounting, we are using automatic entries that are 30-50 lines long. We have had 4 trusts terminate over the past couple years and I can't delete them from the automatic entry without losing the balance of the entry. Unfortunately one of the trusts is on line 2. Almost all of our automatic entries do an allocation by a factor. I put in a factor of 0. But it is so easy to make an error when I am putting in new factors and forget to skip a trust that has terminated.

Good news! Navigator 8.2 now allows you to easily delete any line in an Automatic Entry: - Perform Software Update to make sure you have the latest version (Help | Software Update).
- Open the Automatic Entry to edit it. (Transactions | Automatic Entries).
- Select (left-click) the Dr./Cr. box on the row you want to delete.
- Right click on the same spot. The "Insert Row Delete Row" menu appears. If some other menu appears like "Cut Copy Paste Delete" try again or you will only delete the contents and not the whole row.
- Select Delete.
- Verify that the correct row disappeared. If you made an error, select Cancel without saving changes and start over.
- Select OK.
