When FN starts it will try to access the last set of data files used. This is the case unless there is a set of data in the FN program folder or a set of data files is specified in the shortcut.If this recent set of data is not found then it will prompt with the open dialog box. After selecting the data files then it normally opens these files. However if you get the error message "Put data disk in drive using file: FNW80EN.ENT" then do the following:
Open the Fnwin.ini file for that workstation in the C:\windows folder. Locate the recently used file line such as:
RecentFile1=G:\data\fn\client1
Delete this line and any other RecentFileX lines that you no longer need.
Save and exit the fnwin.ini file.
Now FN will open for this workstation correctly. Note, this will need to be done to any other workstation that was using FN before, where the most recent file (RecentFile1) has been moved.
This is not a problem with workstations that FN was just installed on it for the first time.
Also this problem exists only on certain network configurations and where the FN program files and the data files are on a different drive.
This same solution will work for FN 7.5 where it does not find the FNW75EN.ENT file.
