I have had a problem several times with the restore function. When I try to restore from a disk, and the disk is bad, I get an error msg that says the restore was not successful and then my entire file/database is wiped out. If I didn't have an extra backup, I would have lost all my current year data. THis has happened 3 times. It would seem that if there was a problem restoring, I would get an error but that my exisiting data would stay intact.

Any solution???

First determine if the diskette is good.
See other post regarding how to work with a bad data disk at: Error #57 - disk transfer

Restore is copying the data files. See if you can copy the data files. If so then copy then to the hard drive or another floppy.
If you cannot copy all the files then determine which files are bad. The index files such as iac2.dat and ipa2.dat can be rebuilt. Other files can have the data corrected such as changing the tranactions or changing the Account names or payee name. The Asset & Liability info and budgets can be corrected for the accounts.
A list of the files is contained in the help file and in the manual. Most data problems can be corrected.

As always have several good backups at different intervals is good insurance. Your data only exists on your machine. It is the most value thing you have on the hard drive.
