When I generate reports I can't print or even get them on the screen - I get "Run-time error 6 - Overflow." I have searched the knowledge base and don't find this error mentioned. I have Win98SE, 256k RAM and closed out all background programs and still get the same error. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Thank you.

Let's try and isolate the problem.

Reboot your system and open only FN and try again. What report are you requesting that gives you the error?
Do any of your reports work?
Can you print from any other application?

When did this problem start occuring?

Have you made any changes to your system recently?

Run the Test and Correct Utility (Select Utilities | Test & Correct files | All of the above).

Are you on a network? If so, do any other workstations have the same problem?

What version of 7.0 are you running (Select Help | About FN - end of second line tells you 7.X.X version)?

Do you have the latest software update? Run the software update and the system will tell you if you have the most current version. (Select Help | About FN | Software update - if you have an internet connection.)

Hi. Thanks for answering. Sorry it took so long to respond but we do a lot of traveling in the summer.

1) I rebooted and closed out all backgrounds apps other than Explorer and Systray. Same problem. It appears to apply to all reports. I tried a few and either get the "Run-time error 6 - overflow message" or "Run-time error 5003 - unexpected error."

2) Printing is no problem with other applications.

3) I'm not sure when the problem began. It had to be within the past few months though because being a personal user, usually the only time I print reports is in March, at tax time, and everything was fine then.

4) I'm sure I have installed a few programs, Adobe Photoshop Elements for one. The only thing that might be a system change is that I installed a USB driver for an MP3 player.

5) I ran all test and correct utilities - no help.

6) I'm on a network but not using the networked version.

7) Version 7.0.0

8) v. 7.0.0 does not have that option in the menu.

I'm leaning towards doing a re-install but I'm not exactly sure how to do that because all I have ever done is install upgrades. Can I just reinstall over the top of my exisiting installation or should I uninstall the old version first. Will that cause me any problem with the entity limitations I have?

Thanks very much.

  1. Uninstall the FN 7.0 program. Then reinstall the program.
  2. After re-installing the program, download and install lastest version of FN - 7.0.4:
    ftp://www.finnav.com/ftp/fnwin70x.exe

This is just a self extracting exe. So download into the FN program folder. (Cut and paste the address into your location bar.)
  3. Now try your reports again.

See the forum post: Run time error 50003

Although this deals with FN 8.0, the situation is similar.

I also might suggest upgrading to the newest version of FN!
