When I run Balances for Accounts"and affirm my data files are backed up I get the message "Account (-32767) not in index". "Run Rebuild Account Index"
When I click on OK I get the message "Balances for Accounts were tested and are correct".
However when I rerun "Balances for Accounts" I get the same error messages again. I am using: FN8.0.8, Personal edition, Windows XP, no recent changes to computer

You need to actually run the rebuild account index utility. See the post: Rebuild Payee/Account Index for information on how to do that.
