When trying to print a report I get fnwin80 error message. Next window is that there has been an illegal operation and FN shuts down. Have never had problem before, but have just installed a new HP5550 printer to replace an old Canon Bubblejet. I am not having difficulty printing from any other program.

Let's try to narrow down your problem:

1. What is the exact wording of your error message?

2. Did this error occur right after you installed your new printer?

3. Can you view the report on your screen? Does this error only occur when you try to print the report?

4. Can you view a Print Preview? Can you print from Print Preview?

5. Does the error occur for all reports?

6. What is your FN version number? To tell which version you have on your system, start FN, and then select Help | About Financial Navigator from the main Financial Navigator menu. Your version will appear on the second line of the screen. It will appear in this format "Version 8.0.x"

7. What version of Windows are you using? i.e. Windows95,98,Me,NT,XP, or 2000?

Here are my answers to your previous questions. Thank you.

Let's try to narrow down your problem:

2. Did this error occur right after you installed your new printer? This is the first time we used FN after installing the new HP5550 printer, but we successfully printed checks before trying to print a report.

3. Can you view the report on your screen? Does this error only occur when you try to print the report? We can view all reports on screen, but we can't print any that we tried.

4. Can you view a Print Preview? Can you print from Print Preview? We cannot view or print from Print Preview.

5. Does the error occur for all reports? All that we tried.

6. What is your FN version number? To tell which version you have on your system, start FN, and then select Help | About Financial Navigator from the main Financial Navigator menu. Your version will appear on the second line of the screen. It will appear in this format "Version 8.0.x" 8.0.8.

7. What version of Windows are you using? i.e. Windows95,98,Me,NT,XP, or 2000? 98

Have you tried doing a full re-installation of the Financial Navigator program? It sounds like there is a conflict with your new printer driver.

Let us know if re-installing FN does not solve your problem.

We reinstalled FN, but that didn't help.

Have you tried using a different driver for your printer? Perhaps there is a newer version of your printer's driver that you could download from your manufacturer's web-site.

Also, make sure you uninstalled FN through the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature prior to re-installing from your CD.
