On only one of our workstations, we are getting the message "Welcome to Financial Navigator" setting up your data screen. This user's PC has already been using FN data and should not have to set up a new set of books. We have a network installation where the actual FN executable is run from the server. The client PC's have the workstation install. All of the other PC's are working as they should. Can you please help?

Usually this happens when FN finds a USR2.DAT file, but not the other data files that an entity should have. These steps should help:
  1. Using Windows Explorer, look in the FN program folder. If you find any .DAT files, move them to a new folder called “LostFiles.”
  2. Check other workstations and servers for loose DAT files.
  3. Delete the recent file list. See Put data disk in drive using file: FNW80EN.ENT.
  4. Check the desktop shortcut properties. Target should be the path to the FN program folder + fnwin82.exe. “Start in” should be just the path.
  5. Select Options | Open Recently Used File. This controls whether FN will automatically open with the last file you used or not./
