Since there is a change in account balance, there must be an orphaned transaction that is affecting the balance but not showing up as a transaction in the stock account. If this was a deleted sale, the first place to look would be in the Unrealized Gain or Losses account. View the Transactions by Account report for Unrealized Gain or Losses and look for a transaction matching the deleted transaction.
But you said this is a deleted purchase, so there shouldn’t be any gain or loss. Unless you revalued the stock (updated the price) before you deleted it. If so, check the Unrealized Gain or Losses account as above.
In any case, backup your data then run Utilities | Test and Correct | Balances for Accounts. This will correct the account balances by adding up the transaction detail for each account. This may eliminate the change in account balances.
If you still have a change in account balance, reply, and we will recommend additional steps.
When this is fixed and you are ready to reenter the sale, check the Asset & Liability screen for the stock you are about to purchase. Since the original sale was deleted, the format type should be Marketable Investment. If it is Sold Asset, or you want it to be something other than Marketable Investment, change the format type before entering the purchase.
There is no way to delete a batch of transactions. Instead, just delete each transaction individually. You can quickly delete transactions by typing an “x” in the status box for the transaction, then moving to the next transaction with the mouse.
