I cannot print 12-month landscape report - budget, income or cash flow. If I do nothing and ask the report to print it is printed portrait style with font so small nothing can be read. If when I call up the report I ask for a preview, see the portraid orientation and then ask for a layout change it causes an error and shuts down the program, claiming an out-of-memory error. I cannot believe that. The IT people have increased my RAM more than twice. I am running NT 2000. What can I do???!!!

  1. Go to Report Selection.
  2. Select the Report Setup button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select the Layout tab.
  4. In the Fit Report on Page section, check BOTH Use Smart Print to Fit and Change to Landscape.

If the above settings were already selected, please do the following:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of Financial Navigator. Earlier releases of FN 8.0 had isolated printing problems. To update to the latest release, select Help | Software Update and follow the prompts. You need Internet access in order to run Software Update.
  2. If you have been able to do this before, then maybe one of the windows library files is messed up. Try reinstalling the library files, as follows:
    • Put your original CD for the current version of Financial Navigator in the CD drive.
    • Select Custom installation.
    • Uncheck everything except windows library files.

  3. If you still have problems, please come back to this topic and hit Post Reply. (You may need to hit Refresh in your browser to have new posts show up.) Give us the following information:

    • Can you print in landscape from other applications (such as Word)?
    • Give us the exact text of the error message, especially any error number.
    • Does this problem occur on other computers?
    • Does this occur on other data such as the sample data?

I went to the Software update choice on the Help menu. It acknowledged that I had the latest version but I told it to update anyway. After the update download I said to install the program. I tried with the sample data to do a Report Set-up but error 7 keeps occuring.
When I said that I have been able to affect the Layout option before I mean that at sometime in the past (who knows which version) I have printed the 12-month reports. Actually they always came out automatically landscape if necessary.

Any suggestions will be tried!

"Reinstall" and "Software Update" are two different things.

You need to reinstall FN.

This means that you have to get your original Financial Navigator CD and put it in your CD drive. You can't get this online, only from the original CD.

This will install the windows library files that may have the problem. Software Update will NOT have any effect on these files.

I'm having just the OPPOSITE problem. I can't get any reports to print portrait, in spite of the fact that they have plenty of room to print. When I do a print preview, they show portrait, but always print landscape. I have Smart Print checked, Reduce Font, and Reduce Column Width, but NOT Landscape. I have Portrait as the default.

How can I get to print protrait when appropriate?

Go to your windows application and check the default settings on your printer from there.

  1. Select Start | Printers (or Control Panel then Printers).
  2. Right click on the printer in question.
  3. Select Printing Preferences.
  4. Verify default position. Make sure "Portrait" is selected.
  5. Close windows.
  6. Return to FN and run a report.

These instructions may vary depending on the Windows application you are using.

If this does not resolve your issue, please reply to this post and provide answers to the questions:
FN Version (7.5.x, 8.0.x, 8.1.1?) you are using? (Help | About Financial Navigator)
FN Edition (POE, SOE, PE)?
Printer model?
Windows application (98, 2000, XP?)
Does this happen in every entity or just one?
Does this happen with other applications (Word, Excel) or just FN?
