My 12-Month Income Statement is fine but my 12-Month Budget report only shows a double line and single total – neither categories nor accounts. This happens with 3 sets of books. I see the Forum post talks about expanding rows with the plus sign but I don’t see the plus sign.

Not sure what is causing the problem, let’s look at a few things:
  • You say this happens on 3 books (entities). Are some other entities OK or is it the same for all entities?
  • While viewing the report, select Data | Totals. The default setting is Totals checked for everything except Column 1 and Show Totals checked.
  • Select Data. Only Show Totals should be checked. If Show Only Total Lines is checked that could be the problem.
  • Select Data | Show Expanded View. Now you can see the plus and minus boxes on the left.
  • Is this report for 2007 data that has produced a good budget report before? If you’ve already started 2008 and there are no budget amounts, no accounts will show on the report.

You sent me PDF copies of the budget report and the account-level detail is there on the PDF version of the report. Yet the detail doesn't appear on your screen, preview, or when you print the report. Strange! Try this:
  • Open the PDF version yourself to verify the detail is there.
  • Save the report as xls and csv to see if the detail is in those versions.
  • You already reinstalled Navigator on the server. If you did that from your workstation, your workstation should be fine. But to be sure, reinstall Navigator choosing "workstation install" then test the report again.
  • Try a separate install of Navigator (a Full Install to a different directory on your workstation, perhaps C:\Program Files\FNTest\.)
  • Run the report from a different workstation.
The last few tests are to see if some DLLs needed by Navigator have been replaced by some other new software.

I wasn't clear before.

My 12-Month Budget report doesn’t have subtotals (or the line that used to appear above the subtotals anymore. It used to. I had been moving columns around but I don’t think that’s the problem. I tried all sorts of report Option settings, especially Group Totals and Category Totals to no avail. My 2007 reports in CSS_07 are good, but the 2008 reports in CSS_08 are not.

Apparently, the file that stores the report settings is corrupted. You can copy a good settings file from another entity or year.
  1. Open the entity-year data folder CSS.08 in Windows Explorer
  2. Rename the file Fnreport.opt to FnreportOLD.opt.
  3. Open the entity-year data folder CSS.07 in Windows Explorer. This has a good report settings file.
  4. Copy Fnreport.opt file from the CSS.07 folder.
  5. Paste the Fnreport.opt file into the CSS.08 folder
  6. Open CSS.08 in Navigator and try the report. You should be able to turn subtotals on and off and move columns at will.
