It's not possible to move more than one account at a time. You can move an account within its original class. "Class" means Assets, Liabilities, etc. You cannot move an account from one class to another, except between liabilities and equity.
To drag and drop an account with the mouse:
- Click and hold the account you want to move.
- Drag the mouse cursor over the category you want to move the account to.
- Release the mouse button.
To move an account up or down:
- Highlight the account you want to move.
- Press the up cursor key to move the account up.
- or -Press the down cursor key to move the account down.
To move an account:
- In the Chart of Accounts, go to the class, group, and category where you want to move the account. If the group or category does not exist, switch to the Master Chart of Accounts to create a new category and account. See Inserting an Account in a New Category for details.
- Select the category folder or account where you want to move the account.
- Select the Chart | Add Account. The Add Account screen displays.
- Select the account you want to move from the Account field.
- Select OK. The system asks:
[Account name] already exists.
Do you want to move it?
Note: If you typed in the account name and you do not receive this message, the account you typed in did not previously exist. Delete the new account you created and repeat the steps.
- Select OK to move the account.
