The equity section is much more detailed than I want it to be. There is a line item "Net Income-Prior Years" which I don't want. The equity section looks like this:

NET WORTH-BEGINNING
NET INCOME-PRIOR YEARS
NET INCOME-CURRENT YEAR
UNREALIZED GAINS OR LOSSES
TOTAL NET WORTH
TOTAL LIABILITIES AND NET WORTH

I want it to be just one number, "NET WORTH." How do I get it to appear like that?

  1. Go to Report Selection.
  2. Select the Balance Sheets report group.
  3. Select Options.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Options box, look for Net Worth. Make sure that Print Total is selected.
  5. Print or view your report. The equity section now prints in total.

If you ever want to see the equity section detail, go back to Options as described above and select Print Detail.

Well, that's fine if you want no detail at all -- but I want more detail than that.

Right now my report looks like this:

NET WORTH-BEGINNING
NET INCOME-PRIOR YEARS
NET INCOME-CURRENT YEAR
UNREALIZED GAINS OR LOSSES
TOTAL NET WORTH

I want my report to look like this:

NET WORTH-BEGINNING
NET INCOME-CURRENT YEAR
UNREALIZED GAINS OR LOSSE
TOTAL NET WORTH

In other words, I want to combine "Net worth - beginning" and "Net income - prior years."

I know there is some way to do this!

Here's how to do it:

  1. From the main menu, select Accounts | Equity Name Changes
  2. In the Accumulated Prior Years Net Income box, enter 0.00
  3. Select OK
  4. Go to Report Selection. Select the Balance Sheets report group.
  5. Select Options.
  6. On the right-hand side of the Options box, look for Net Worth. Make sure that Print Detail is selected.
  7. Now the equity section of your report will print the way you want it to.
