We got a new computer. Installed FN, but cannot open data files. i have tried the shortcut method (adding file name on target line). It just sits there. Our data files are on our network drive F. When i go to open files, i find the data files and press ok. it does not take me to the data files, it takes me back to where i started when i first opened up screen to find files. We have another new computer & i had no problems on that one.

Since you can open the data on another computer, the data must be OK.So there is some problem with FN on your new computer finding the data. Try: - Carefully copy the information in the Target and Start in fields of the desktop shortcut from the computer that works to the new one.
- Try to open the sample data. It is usually in the same folder as the FN program - [server]:\Program Files\FN\ by default.
- Try mapping the network drive on your new computer, especially if it is mapped on the computer that works. Then substitute the mapped drive letter to open the data in FN. Sometimes a long path name or the blank space like in "Program Files" causes problems. Mapping drives bypasses this.
- Let FN find your data files. See the Forum Post Not find data files. Change Drives in the Open screen to your network drive letter before listing the folders.
Let us know if this helps, or if you would like further details how to perform any of these steps. - David FNI Support Desk[This message has been edited by fni_support (edited 09-16-2004).]

Glad you were able to solve the problem. Anyone else with a similar problem may want to try using Windows Explorer to view the files in your FN data folders. If you can't access them even directly with Windows, then you have a network or permissions problem. - David [This message has been edited by fni_support (edited 09-16-2004).]
