To delete an entity, select File | Delete Entity, browse to the entity’s data folder for any year, and follow the prompts to delete it. But first, read the notes below.Notes: - Deleting an entity also deletes the data. Before you delete the entity, archive the data in a Archive folder were you can find it years from now. Chances are you will need to refer to it at some point in the future.
- Deleting an entity in FN deletes it from the entity list and frees up one entity so you can add another. Deleting an entity in FN also deletes the data, but only for the year to which you browsed. The folders for the other years (if any) are still in your FN data folder. I would suggest moving those to the archive folder also, if you have not already.
- You can open the archived data any time. FN will add the entity back to the entity list.
- If you delete (or move) the entity data folder before you delete the entity in FN, you’ve created a problem. I see this a lot. If you can find the data, you can copy it to the FN data folder and delete it in FN. If the data is gone, you have to create data that fools FN so that you can delete it from the entity list. See Deleting entities.
All this is for Navigator 8.2 and earlier. Navigator 9.0 handles the process quite differently. Hope this helps. Please reply to this post if you have any questions or comments. - David FNI Technical Support
