You can override the In Use lockout, but that will disconnect anyone who is really using that entity. If you have already done steps 1 & 2, skip to step 3. - Try to open the In Use entity. Often you can open it even if there is an In Use indicator. This happens in a user was working on that entity, and then Navigator, their computer, or their network connection stopped working. Once you reopen the entity the In Use indicator will go away. If that does not work (and you have already tried that), proceed to the next step.
- Verify that no one is actually using that entity. If you have remote access, does a remote user have that entity in use? Did someone leave Navigator running and that entity in use when they left the office? If you find someone using that entity, have him or her open a different entity or close Navigator. If you cannot find anyone, or if you are unable to access their computers to find out, proceed to the next step to disconnect any users from that entity and reset the In Use indicator.
- Open Navigator to any entity.
- Select Help | About Navigator.
- Type “t”. The message “Set to Test Mode” appears.
- Select OK twice to return to the main Navigator desktop. Navigator will remain in Test Mode until the next time you close Navigator.
- Select File | Open.
- Open the “In Use” entity. A warning message appears.
- Select OK to override the “In Use” lock and bump any other user out of that entity.
An alternate method is to reboot the server. This will kick everyone out of Navigator (and any other programs running on the server. IT would probably prefer the Test Mode method above. - David FNI Technical Support Case #38-11005
