From the FN Help file:
Marketable Securities Format TypesTo track marketable securities in FN, each security account must have the appropriate format type. This allows FN to properly handle marketable security transactions and include the proper accounts in marketable security reports.
7 Common/Preferred Stock
Use for publicly traded stocks and mutual funds.
8 Bonds
Use for state, municipal or corporate bonds sold in $1000 units. These bonds, though having a face value in multiples of 1000, are quoted on a basis of 100. Therefore, FN multiplies the price entered in the Price per Bond field by 10 and then multiplies this result by the number of bonds to determine the value of the investment.
9 Traded Options/Warrants
Use for put and call options that you have written or purchased through a stockbroker. These accounts are included as marketable securities.
10 Futures
Use for investments in contracts to purchase or sell commodities or financial instruments in the future.
11 Marketable Investments
Use for marketable investments that do not fall under a more specific format type.
13 Sold Asset - Security
Use for marketable security accounts where the investment has been sold. The system automatically assigns this format type when you sell an account with a marketable security format type.
24 IRA / Keogh - Securities
Use for stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities that are held in tax-deferred retirement plans. These securities will be included when you update security prices.
44 Broker Cash Account
Use for accounts that function both as money market accounts and investment transaction journals. Broker cash accounts have a market value and cost basis that are the balance in the account and always have a price per share of 1.00. The quantity is therefore also the balance in the account. Broker cash accounts are included on investment reports as a type of marketable security so that the cash balance is included as part of the asset allocation percentage. On cash flow reports, the transactions entered in a broker cash account are included from the various accounts and the balance appears in the account summaries at the bottom of the report.
45 Sold Bonds
Use for bond accounts that where the investment has been sold. The system automatically assigns this format type when you sell an account with the Bonds format type. The Sold Bonds format type is similar to the Sold Asset - Security format type except that it adjusts the Quantity for Bonds to reflect that bonds are valued in multiples of $1,000.
