When I run securities analysis I set my options to give me subtotals on the same stock that I've bought in different lots. I believe this grouping is triggered by giving the stocks of the various lots the same symbol.
In one entity there is one stock group that will not combine!! I've redone the stock symbol at least five times, thinking that I had a space or something different that would not be recognized as identical.
Since I have this stock in the same condition (more than one lot) in another entity and the report runs as I would expect (with a subtotal for that group of stock)I have been pulling my hair out trying to understand what is occurring that it won't subtotal in the other entity. The stocks are also categorized the same.
Help!

The stocks have to be next to each other in the Chart of Accounts.

Put all same-symbol stocks together and they will create a sub-total on the report. If there is any separation, the report will treat them separately.

Not at all.

It is a valid question and it is good to have it on the forum.
