I printed a Securities Portfolio Analysis from two different years - 2000 and 2001. I had checked in the options the same choices for both years but I was specifically interested in subtotaling for assets with the same symbol and I only selected for "sold securities".

I noticed that the report for 2000 had one extra column, on the right most column - Gain/Loss, with the subtotals by same symbols and accounts.
I was surprised that the 2001 report did NOT show the Gain/Loss column. I tried using the Totals option (while in the 2001 actual report) and it produced the Gain/Loss column plus much more, BUT suppressed the same symbol subtotals!! Why can I get what I want in 2000 but not in 2001????!!!

Make sure all options you want are selected in both sets of data files.

You may have hidden a column or made other customization decisions, therefore, select Format | Reset | All in the report to verify that you haven't asked the program to "hide" a column.

What do you mean that the same symbol subtotals were "suppressed". Did they show up as individual lots, or did the securities not show up on the report at all?

Again, make sure you have the same month selected for the report in both sets of data files as well as the same report options.

Your suggestion to go back to the default Format worked. I guess I had forgotten how to do that. Yes, I had hidden some columns at an earlier time.

The "suppressing" problem was cleared up, but to clarify what I meant with that - in trying to get the column showing the gain (and not doing what you suggested) I went through the "totals" option. It gave me all the columns, but eliminated the subtotals for same symbol stocks. But that's moot now with your reminder to go back to the default settings.

Thanks.
