Is there a restriction on the number of qualifiers that can be used on a single investment report?

I use qualifiers on my security analysis reports. They have four characters, such as 06PB or 01BA. The first two characters are the manager and the next two characters are the custodian.

All marketable securities and brokerage cash accounts have a qualifier.

When creating a security analysis portfolio report, I select several different qualifiers for a single report. For example, I may select "+/06PB+/01BA+/04HW".

I find that my reports do not include all of the securities with the selected qualifier. For example, all of 04HW may not be on the report.

In the past this has not been a problem. I don't know what is causing the problem. Is there a restriction on how many qualifiers can be selected for a single report?

Hi Margaret,

There isn't any restriction on the number of qualifiers that can be used on a particular report. Since some of the 04HW securities are on the report, it seems the system is picking up that qualifier okay. Perhaps some of the securities are set to be inactive in the current year if this is Version 9.0 (Active From and Active To years in the COA).

One other way to test this is to enter the Qualifier and then pull up the COA and see if those accounts are visible. Let me know the results when you get a chance.

Thanks!

I was not clear about the missing qualifiers. When securities are missing for a qualifier, all of the securities with that qualifier are missing.

In the previous example, none of the assets with the qualifier 04HW would be on the report. I can immediately run another report, listing 04HW first, and find that all of 06PB assets are missing.

I've shorten the example. I'm only having the problem with reports that are using more than 6 or 8 qualifiers on the single report.

Since there are no restrictions on the number of qualifiers, what is causing the problem?

If the qualifier string was started with a "+" (i.e. "+/06PB+/01BA+/04HW"), that can throw the system off. When entering a string of qualifiers, make sure to start with a forward slash "/" and use "+" to connect each new one after that.
