The default for this report is set at "portrait" to print the report "north/south" on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, yet when the report prints it is printing "landscape" or "east/west." Further, when I go into report options to try to set it at "portrait," it shows that way already, but will NOT print that way.

How can I get this report to print "protrait" or "north/south"?

Make sure that on the report layout screen under the "Fit report on page" section that you do not have "Change to landscape" checked. If you do that will affect the way in which the report prints.
If that doesn't correct the problem, use the Print to Screen option, then go to format, report layout and make sure all the proper boxes are marked appropriately, then save for that report or all reports.
