I began a new year for an entity in 7.5 and have since upgraded to 8.0. It is a database with few transactions through the year, therefor I just went to reconcile after upgrading to 8.0 and my 2001 data is there, but the reports read the year 2000. How do I correct this?

Is all your data showing the correct date when you entered transactions? I wonder if you brought forward the 1999 year instead of 2000 year when you Began a New Year.
Having said that - there is a way to fix it. Print your report to screen - click on view and click on Header. The date comes up and you can edit it. Change your date and the report will print with the proper date.
Also, please download the lastest version of FN from Software Update.

I rolled over the correct year and until I upgraded to FN 8, everything was correctly the year 2001. I went back to my data and found that the input dates that used to be for the year 01 are now 00. I went in to change review and changed the dates back to 01, but when I go back they are 00 again. Additionally, when I open the data, even though it is in the 01 data file and all the 01 data is correct, it says I am opening data for 00. Your solution did not work. What can I do short of starting a year over again and having to re-enter all my data?

The system reads the year setting for transactions from the file year set up when you Begin a New Year.

If you entered 2001 when you ran Begin a New Year, the system inputs that year into all transaction data.

A variety of computer hardware and/or data entry problems may cause your FN data files to become corrupted. This can occur, for example, if the power goes out while you are using the program or if there are damaged areas on your hard drive.

The Test & Correct Files utilities are designed to fix these sorts of problems. To do this:
1.Back up your data files.
2.Select Utilities | Test & Correct Files | All of the Above.
3.As the system runs through the tests, make note of any corrections the system makes.

If this does not solve your problem:

You indicated that prior to upgrading to 8.0, the 7.5 2001 data files showed the correct year.

  • Is this true for all reports?
  • Is this true for transaction entries in all journals?
  • Did you keep a back-up of your 7.5 2001 data files prior to upgrading to 8.0?

If you email both sets of data files to me for review I will further investigate. I was unable to reproduce your problem.

If you have to Begin a New Year again:

1. Print out Detail Trial Balance for 2001 8.0 entity.
2. Back up the 2001 8.0 data files
3. Delete that entity
4. From your 2000 data files, Begin a New Year.
5. Re-enter your transactions from your print out of the Detail Trial Balance.
