The system reads the year setting for transactions from the file year set up when you Begin a New Year. If you entered 2001 when you ran Begin a New Year, the system inputs that year into all transaction data.
A variety of computer hardware and/or data entry problems may cause your FN data files to become corrupted. This can occur, for example, if the power goes out while you are using the program or if there are damaged areas on your hard drive.
The Test & Correct Files utilities are designed to fix these sorts of problems. To do this:
1.Back up your data files.
2.Select Utilities | Test & Correct Files | All of the Above.
3.As the system runs through the tests, make note of any corrections the system makes.
If this does not solve your problem:
You indicated that prior to upgrading to 8.0, the 7.5 2001 data files showed the correct year.
- Is this true for all reports?
- Is this true for transaction entries in all journals?
- Did you keep a back-up of your 7.5 2001 data files prior to upgrading to 8.0?
If you email both sets of data files to me for review I will further investigate. I was unable to reproduce your problem.
If you have to Begin a New Year again:
1. Print out Detail Trial Balance for 2001 8.0 entity.
2. Back up the 2001 8.0 data files
3. Delete that entity
4. From your 2000 data files, Begin a New Year.
5. Re-enter your transactions from your print out of the Detail Trial Balance.
