Acct A existed in the 12/31/01 BS with no. of shares and updated FMV - no cost basis.
I updated to 2002. Later after I found the missing info re. cost basis, I went into 2001 and posted the stock distribution. A/L info is correct in 2001. When I update nothing happens to the account in 2002. It still shows the correct FMV from the beginning of the year, the no. of shares, but does not take the cost basis. Position in CofA and spelling is the same. How can I correct this? Thanks.

If your account balance changed in 2001 then when you updated your balances in 2002, it would prompt you to change the A/L screen. But you are running FMV balances apparently so your account balance remained the same. Go into the A/L screen in 2002 and make the change to the cost basis on that screen. Your portfolio runs will pick the cost basis from that screen.
