I am thinking about purchasing FN 8.0 and one of the functions I need an accounting software package to be able to do is consolidate financial information across multiple entities. So my question is, is the same master chart of accounts used across multiple entities and then are you able to consolidate the information from each entity into one consolidated report?

No, Advanced reports does not consolidate the numbers for you. Advanced reports will give you reports on several entities together, but the information is still kept separate. The financial numbers are not combined, just printed up all at once. For example, if you needed balance sheets for 3 entities, you go to your "family" which you have set up and ask for balance sheets for that set of 3 entities. The report that comes back is the balance sheet for each entity, one right after the other. To combine the numbers together, you would have to export the advanced report to excel and work some magic there! I hope this answered your question. ------------------ Pam de Jong by BJJSM Corp (edited 10-16-2000).] [This message has been edited by fniadmin (edited 12-31-2002).]

Advanced Reports 8.2 does have combined, consolidating and consolidated reports that give you totals across entities and years. As of September 2004 this new version of Advanced Reports is still being prepared for release. If you are interested in these new features, contact FN Sales at sales@finnav.com or (800) 468-3636. This will be a free upgrade for Advanced Reports users on support.[This message has been edited by radiodave (edited 09-16-2004).]
