I had to buy a new computer recently. I had them transfer all my client files to the new computer. We reloaded FN as well as CheckForm Navigator. I needed to setup a client the other day to pay their bills. When I went to setup their information using CheckForm Navigator, it prompted me that it was missing cmdialog.vbx. I remember having a similar problem when I purchased my last computer. I looked inside Windows Explorer to see if I could find the file. I could not. I found it interesting that I have been able to continue to print checks on all the old clients that I print checks for. When I went in one of those sets of books, I realized I could not get into the CheckForm to make any change.
Do you have any advise?

Cmdialog.vbx is a file needed in the c:\windows\system folder. It is only used when you change the CFN settings such as the bank info or setup a new checking account.

This file is included on the lastest version 3.0 of CheckForm Navigator. It was not included on earlier versions(2.0) since it was included with earlier versions(6.0) of FN. However it is not included with current version(6.5 and higher) of FN. Therefore, the problem will occur when you switch to a new computer.

The file cmdialog.vbx can be obtained in any one of the following ways:
1) From your old computer in the C:\windows\system folder.
2) From a latest version (3.0) of CheckForm Navigator doing a workstation install.
3) From the FN web site at ftp://www.finnav.com/ftp/cmdialog.zip
4) From an 6.0 version of FN doing a workstation install or expanding the file cmdialog.vb_ to cmdialog.vbx
5) From someone else's computer in their C:\windows\system\folder.

You just need to copy the file cmdialog.vbx into the c:\windows\system folder on each workstation. It does not need to be registered like newer dll & ocx files.

For Windows 2000 and XP, Windows library files are installed in the program folder to avoid conflict with other files. Therefore, when you copy the cmdialog.vbx file, make sure you verify your Windows application and put in the appropriate folder.
