I'm a little confused by your question. You said you got an error message

This sounds like but isn't exactly the same as the laser check description file. I'm thinking that you might not have written down the error message exactly. I'd expect the file referred to in the message to look like this
x:\datafile\LSRnnn.DES
where x is the drive, datafile is the path to the folder containing the data, and nnn is the account number of the checking account.

From CheckForm Navigator Help:
The CheckForm Navigator Settings dialog box creates a file for each checking account for which you write checks using CFN. This file is stored in the FN data directory for that entity. Each checking account for which you wish to print checks must have its own description file.

If I understand your problem correctly, this is what you need to do.

  1. Select Transactions | Print Checks
  2. Select the account you wish to print checks for and click Apply.
  3. If All checks have been printed appears, select Sample.
  4. When the check appears on the screen, select Select Printer.
  5. Select CFN Settings.
  6. Review all the settings in the CFN settings dialog box.
  7. Select Save (not Save As)
  8. System will ask, "Save to (path)" where the path is the location of the file, as described above. Click Yes.
  9. Exit the CFN Settings screen.
  10. Now try to print checks.

If the above doesn't help you, please try to print checks again and make note of the exact wording of the error message you're seeing. Don't start a new topic, please "reply" to this one. Include the complete error message in your reply.
