after installing a new pc with win2k, we purchased and installed FN 8.0, when we try to print checks the DOS windows appears and disappears, no checks. I called tech support, they reminded me that I had to install CFN, but when I tried to install, I get an error "the directory c:\fn does not contain the financial navigator". I have installed FN 3 times all to c:\fn. thanks for your help, john senn.

Are you using a network?

If so:

  1. Do a full install of FN to your network drive (then do a software update)
  2. Install CFN on the network in the same program folder that you installed FN.
  3. When you install CFN, follow the directions on the forum post: Windows 2000 and Check Form Navigator to capture the network printer.
  4. Make sure that you do a Workstation Install of FN on the new PC that is attached to the network.

If you are not working with a network:

  1. Uninstall FN 8.0 and CFN completely.
  2. Reboot your machine.
  3. Reinstall FN 8.0 and do a software update.
  4. Reinstall CFN.
.
If you do not know how to run a software update, see the post: Software Update from FN for instructions.

Are you on a network?

When you re-installed CFN, did you select the correct printer port?

Make sure that on the CFN settings you have CFN selected as your printer if you are using our check stock. Also, when you re-installed CFN you may have cleared all the bank information. Make sure that is all still there.

Go to Transaction Activity as if you were going to print checks. If you do not have any checks awaiting print (the system will tell you that all checks have been printed), then select the Sample command button.

Choose Select Form and make sure that Check Form 1 is highlighted in blue. (This is the default setting for Check Form Navigator and will print the check stub first and the actual check second.) Then select OK.

Then, choose Select Printer and make sure that you select Check Form Navigator. From this screen you can select CFN settings to verify bank information is correct. Select OK.

These two settings are required in order for CFN to print checks properly.
