We are unable to print checks. Last week it worked fine and nothing has changed. We use the CheckForm Navigator and print to a network printer. I have captured the network printer as lpt1. When we tell it to print a check a DOS screen flashes by so fast you can't see it. I ran it and caught a print screen of it and this is the error message it flashes by. "'LSR' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." We are using FN off the network (Window 2000 server) and our PC is Windows 2000.

Hello Amy,

It is good that you were able to write down the error that the DOS screen gave you. The “LSR is not recognized…” error means that the LSR.EXE file that CFN uses was not found where FN is looking for it. This file should be located in your FN program folder (in your case, on your network drive). This error can occur if the LSR.EXE file is missing from your FN program folder, or if you have the wrong “Start in” path for your FN shortcut.

First, check the “Start in” path of the shortcut you use to start Financial Navigator. The “Start in” path should have the same folder as the “Target” path of the shortcut:

1. Right click on your FN icon and select Properties.
2. Select the Shortcut tab if not already displayed.
3. Look at the Target path. It points to where you are running the FN program from. For example: H:\FN\fnwin81.exe
4. Look at the Start in path. This should be the same as the Target path minus the fnwin81.exe. For example: H:\FN\

Also, check and make sure that LSR.EXE is in your FN program folder. Let us know what you find out.

George, Thank you for your response. I had checked that the LSR was in the FN folder and it was. I did not know any better to check the shortcut. I checked today and the person using the application had changed her Start in path to F:\FN\WIN. I took the WIN off and now it is working great.

Thanks for all your help!
Amy
