We just upgraded printers and moved the DIMM chip from the old printer to the new one. We understood that this particular chip works with both of our printers. But now the MICR code on the checks prints as a garbled mess of characters.

Since you know the DIMM chip should work on both printers, try this:

Reseat chip: Turn off printer, remove chip, replace chip, test again.

Print font list: Use the buttons on the printer control panel to print the "PCL Font List." You should have 25 fonts, including a MICR font.

Test chip on old printer: Return the chip to the old printer and see if it still works there.

Please let us know the results.

Thanks! Reseating the chip fixed it.
